A tough workout Thurs and then a heck of a lot of sugar Fri.
Thurs I decided to try a 10-20-30 workout. I read this on eatliverun.com.
- 10 jumping jacks
- 20 dips / tricep extension
- 30 pushups
- 40 crunches (any style)
- 50 squats or alternating lunges
3 rounds, or until we drop!
It sounds a lot easier than it is. I mean you can tailor it to YOU of course. Traditional or girly pushups? Simple crunches or bicycle crunches?
I decided to make my first “10″ ten minutes on the Stairmaster instead of 10 jumping jacks, since it was early morning and I needed some movement to loosen up . For 20 I did dips on one leg off the side of a workout bench. For 30 I did 10 pushups straight and 20 girl-style. For 40 I did crunches. For 50 I did reverse lunges, stepping back instead of forward.
Round 2 I did 20 jumping jacks instead of 10. I think I squeaked out all 20 dips. It may have been 17. Then the pushups got TOUGH. I think I only did 14. And by the end of round 2 I was really feeling it more than I expected. So instead of doing a 3rd round, I practiced karate. Front kicks, punches, fugal sudo.
Thurs night was karate class. I’m learning Pyung Ahn 2 and found it online here, but it’s weird to see it as written words.
Fri night was our school’s annual auction/dinner fundraiser event. It was a 20′s theme so we got dapper. We were the cat’s meow, I tell ya! The reason I had a lot of sugar was because there were Mike’s Mudd Pies. The delicious mocha-ness was worth it and we got 6 slices to take home!
One of the items up for auction was a 20′s themed painting that included the logo we designed for the event.

Brian’s running buddy Richie, who loves to come run with and yell at Alice’s cross country team, bid on the sign from the gym with the 2009 cross country schedule. Then he gave it to us to bring home to Alice. It’s quite HUGE. I’m not sure where it will go because it is too big for her room. But it includes the City Meet that she WON in Oct. so it’s cool to have!
Tonight is ANOTHER 20′s party, and I have better wardrobe ideas from last night, so I’ll post a photo after we dress up tonight. I hope the weather is good because this one is indoor/outdoor and I don’t want to be freezing. Despite Brian’s evil stare I will try to pull off pantyhose with open toe shoes, just to have something on my legs all night. Fishnets would be cute too, but won’t add warmth. I need those stockings with the line up the back!
2010 goal update: 3000 crunches, 76 minutes of plank remaining.
sounds like a fun weekend. very cool about the xc sign! i have a piece of my hs track (one of the lane numbers)… much larger than it seems when it’s part of the track. still don’t know what i’ll ever do with it.
