Not “real adult” because there is adult content, but “real adult” because after my birthday last weekend I feel like a REAL adult. Took me a while, eh?
Lots of updates. First, quickly: Juneathon.
Sat - walked around Disney all day in 98 degree heat sweating. That must count for something.
Sun - Left the car where I valeted at dinner to walk to see Sex and the City 2, and then walked back to the car after the movie. That’s got to be my weakest one yet!
Mon - Lower body gym workout in AM + 15 mins of Zumba I squeezed in because I couldn’t resist even though I was running late.
Tues - Upper body gym workout in AM, karate in PM (forms for 2 hours)
Wed - walking in the AM for an hour with a friend.
Running seems to suck lately, but I love the gym. And not just because it has A/C.
We spent last weekend at Walt Disney World with my brother in law’s family. They just happened to come to town on my birthday. Friday night was just the 4 of us, and we had dinner at Chevy’s. We like their TexMex and don’t have one near us, so it is a rare treat. The girls and I share a fajita dinner between the 3 of us. They gave me a sombrero when they sang Happy Birthday to me! I’ve never had one.

Saturday we met my brother in law, sister in law, her sister, and my 6 year old niece at the Magic Kingdom. That was my REAL birthday.

We crammed in a bunch of rides until about 4:30, when they were overheated and done for the day.

Trapped by the Evil Emperor Zurg
We went back to see their hotel room because they were staying at the new Bay Lake Tower at Disney’s Contemporary Resort - the newest member of Disney Vacation Club Resorts and the closest to Magic Kingdom Park. They had a suite with a full kitchen and perfect view of Space Mountain, Cinderella castle and the fireworks at night. (Over $500/night.)
I called to see if we could sneak in a priority seating at EPCOT’s Tokyo Dining. They had an 8:10pm reservation left, and I took it. I figured if the fireworks were at 9pm, we might still be seated, and the restaurant overlooks the lake where EPCOT’s nightime spectacular takes place.
When we go to EPCOT we had just enough time to catch an Off Kilter show before heading to dinner. Brian and I enjoy their Celtic-feel rock, Wendy complains through the whole thing. A very brave girl of about 9 years old jumped in front of the crowd watching the show and did some Irish dancing for a couple minutes. I was very proud of her chutzpah!
Then we headed to Japan and I asked the restaurant for a window seat. We didn’t get seated until about 8:45 pm, but we DID get a table by the large window - giving us a fabulous view of fireworks during our dinner and dessert. Dessert was chocolate ginger cake with a happy birthday song in English and Japanese!

2010 goal update: 1500 crunches, 32 minutes of plank remaining
(or something like that…)
Hi All,
Summer has hit full blast here. The kids are off school, pool parties are going on, tequila has been drunk, and Disney days loom ahead.
Memorial Day my daughter’s friends threw her a Surprise 12th Birthday Party. She was totally surprised and the party was a BASH!! The birthday girl below has an orange arrow over her head.
Today is National Running Day. I actually went walking. A mom from my daughter’s class went through chemo last year and we’ve started walking most Tues/Thurs mornings together. She’s not at a running stage yet. I still go to the gym Mon-Wed-Fri and karate Tues/Thurs night.
It’s also Juneathon - the month where you try to be physical every day.
June 1 and June 2: I walked about 45 mins in the AM and did karate in the PM. Thanks to RunDMT for reminding me!
We’ve decided that our summer family week away will take us to the mountains of TN. We have a cabin reserved in Gatlinburg (sp?). So if you have any advice for that area, Pigeon Forge, Dollywood, or the Great Smokey Mountains - please let me know.
Alice had her first 7 mile run with Brian. She made it through without walking, but they did stop at 2 drinking fountains and one beach shower during that time. They were near Clearwater beach and I’m sure it was toasty and humid (88 degrees? Feels like 98?? It was only 9am…)
I’m going to try a day from this summer shape up week tomorrow, but I’m not sure if I will do speed or strength:

and I plan to finally make an oatmeal breakfast cookies this month. And a cheesecake in TN.
My birthday is Saturday

I got my bumblebee belt last night (yellow with a black stripe).
Wendy got her green belt.
