End of the weekend

It’s 7:20 on Sunday night and the weekend is coming to a close. I’m already half asleep!

Sat night’s 1920′s fundraiser was for our local Rotary club and Heels to Heal. I sold a bunch of raffle tickets by getting into character and calling people “Dollface”. Brian also won for brest dressed male – which gave me 5 free yoga lessons!! (Unfortunately this photo was taken without his fedora and with glare on his glasses, but you get the idea.)

Many of his friends from the Ragnar Relay were there, and one invited me to run the Ironwoman 5k with her in April.

I stayed up late with Alice after we got home from the event explaining how models and celebrities are Photoshopped to look prettier than life. We looked as some before and after shots of people like Beyonce (made to look lighter) and Madonna (made to look younger) and Keira Knightley (given false breasts), we watched the Dove time lapse video, and we found some Photoshop fail mistakes like 3rd arms left on people! It was fun-ducational and an important lesson for today’s girls to learn.

Today I ran 2 miles outside because the temp got over 65! I went to the park and left Alice reading under a tree while I did a 1-mile loop. I stopped by her for lunges, pushups, tricep dips and squats, and then did my 2nd mile. I did crunches until she wanted to leave. Then we came home and I did an hour of working out with OnDemand exercise programming. Exercises included light hand weights and power moves like side to side lateral lunges, squat-jumps and side planks with a twist.

I reflected on the difficulty of the 10-20-30 last Thurs (because it suprised me), but it occurred to me that I got my period Friday and that could have left me sluggish on Thurs. I’ll try to fit in a 10-20-30 this week when I am out of town and missing the gym. I’m going to the wedding of a high school friend – alone, without Brian or kids!

Wendy came home from her friend’s house today with 3 boxes of Girl Scout cookies. I made her choose one box and return the other 2. She chose Tagalongs and hid them in her dresser drawer.

I’ve been feeling high on sugar and low on veggies, so I’m going to be very conscious of nutrition this week to keep from getting sick or constipated from my airplane flight. I had a banana and peanut butter for breakfast, a bok choy chicken salad for lunch, lots of water, a bit of apple, and homemade chicken soft tacos for dinner. I went easy on the chips and salsa, and heavy on the red and green peppers.

I bought beets, carrots, kale and spinach for eating and juicing throughout the week, and some fruit leather to throw in my travel bag. I also roasted brussel sprouts to bring to work. I signed up for a free 3 day green smoothie program that starts tomorrow and I’ll let you know how that goes.

If you have great veggie juicing recipes to share, please leave one or a link to one in a comment!
