Gotta Love May

I love May. Especially the last week of May. (Sorry Wendy, whose bday is May 19.) So I am excited that May Day and summer weather have arrived!

We were supposed to have May Day Yoga in the Park on Sat, but it turned out that there was an Autism Awareness walk and Funkfest at the same time, so that left little to no parking on the street. The friends Wendy and I were meeting ended up meeting us at Revolve instead, the new funky consignment place. The girls tried clothes on, Wendy got a Tinkerbell Tshirt for dirt cheap, and we headed to EVOs for lunch. If you have ever considered owning a franchise but don’t eat fast food, EVOs is the healthy person’s fast food. Minus the white bread buns on the fake humburgers. I had the garden burger & avocado wrap, which was the turkey and avocado wrap, but they will sub out the turkey for a veggie burger. And a mango guava smoothie. YUM!

Then we headed to a park near my house for some play / karate time. I learned the basics for Pinan 3 from Maria, who was a brown belt last year but has not been able to fit karate class into her schedule lately.

Sunday Brian and Alice went out for a 6 mile run, so I woke up Wendy and took her to the gym with me. We did a lot of core/ab stuff, because that is was Wendy enjoys. I introduced her to the captains chair, and she wanted to do a P.E. style sit up contest where we hold each other’s feet down for a minute and see how many situps we can do. (She won.) I countered with a plank contest. (I won.)

She also likes the BOSU ball (more core, actually) so we did some tricep and shoulder work while balancing on the BOSU.

After we got home she watched Spongebob while I went for a short run.

After discovering that Wendy has been wearing the same shorts for 3 summers, after growing like 7 inches, we did a little shopping. I think we lucked out with 4 pairs for her, 2 for Alice and 1 for me at $52.

I also made a taco soup for lunch, banana mango smoothie for breakfast, and some yummy Olive Garden style tilapia in stewed tomatoes last night. Why does everyone think Brian does all the cooking around here?
