Yesterday I was on the dreadmill happily trying to think about chi running posture and breathing, when suddenly I felt a breeze out back. The weight of my MP3 on my hip had jacke my shorts down about 2.5 inches. Luckily just over one hip, and I was on the far end treadmill so I don’t think it was too much of a show. But is sure looked like a lot of skin in the reflection of the window!
As I was leaving the gym I heard the pounding of the zumba music beating to the rythm of my heart – or something – and it lured me in. I told myself just 10 mins of Zumba, but it turned into 25. So much fun!
My goal before 2009 closes is to get a back kick in karate that is well balanced. That means remembering to keep my hips level even when I turn to see my kick, and to keep my guards steady for balance. And to lean forward at the waist, and keep my toes pointing down. I did a great one tonight and I was quite proud when the teacher said, “Oh yah, our yoga lady.” Meaning – you do yoga so your kicks should be good. But my balancing in yoga is stationary and this is movement + balance, so it is new for me. I relished the compliment.
Tomorrow at the gym I’m going to try some moves from the Fitnessista:
Circuit training workout that will work your entire body (and can be done at home):
- jumping squats (1 minute)
- wall push-ups (1 minute)
- couch dips (30 seconds)
- high knees (1 minute)
- plank (20 seconds)
- side plank (20 seconds)
- switch to the other side (20 seconds)
- plie squat (1 minute)
- chair calf raise (1 minute)
- Pilates swimming (1 minute)
(Repeat the entire circuit 2-3 times)
Some wonderful Dad from school got pics of Alice winning the meet! You can almost see the 2nd place girl behind her… that’s my Cookiehead!
scandalous!
thanks for sharing the workout idea. i’m gym-challenged lately and all i can get in is “at home” stuff when i have the energy.
great pic of alice!
