A bit over 3 miles. Brian and I dropped our car off at the shop to fix the tire, so we just wore our running clothes. We walked to the corner together and then he took off in front of me. I did 3 miles about 5 mins faster than he did 5 miles. Cardio was really good today but some calf aching. After: Stretched, 20 pushups, showered. Time to mix up the MP3 again. I wore the new Lucy running shorts mentioned below and they rock! I should go back and get 2 more pair at that great price, but it’s a 40 min drive.
Today’s lunch

I have never seen plantains in a healthy frozen lunch before. This was very tasty, a bit sticky. I’d probaby like it even more over a bed of buckwheat or wild rice.
Mother’s Day
Yesterday was Mother’s Day. At about 8:10 am the girls knocked on my bedroom door and asked, “Do you want breakfast?” I had heard some kitchen noises and the sound of alum foil tearing so I knew something was up, but I was pretty much asleep. So I asked them to give me 20 more mins to sleep. This made them sad, as some of the breakfast was hot and they thought it would get cold. I nudged Brian and suggested he provide some parental guidance in the kitchen. About 1/2 hour later there were scrambled eggs, hot cinnamon rolls, bacon, juice, yogurt, toast – and mimosas – but for Mothers Day they were MOMosas! We ate and then went to play wii (my idea), and I played some Super Mario Galaxy for the first time. I opened presents – Alice made me a painting and beaded me a bracelet. Wendy made me a “quilt”. But the mimosa started kicking in and I fell asleep curled up on the couch on Brian. By 11:30 am I was awake again and we showered and got dressed. I asked if we could go to the nearby outlet mall. The girls packed up some snacks, water bottles and GameBoy and we hit the road.
We spent more time than I had anticipated shopping, but got some great deals. The Gap outlet had $2.99 camis, the kids surprise me with a Mickey Mouse keychain from the Disney store, I got some Lucy.com running shorts marked down to $9.99 and an Adidias long sleeved running shirt to put away for next year (Addidas had all womens and kids 30% off for Mothers Day.) I tried on some cute stuff at Ann Taylor and got NEW JEANS FINALLY because I had been wearing some that were 2 sizes too big from losing weight from RUNNING! Brian got a swimsuit and Alice got a cami to match one of mine and some flip flops. I think that was all the damage that was done.
I had asked to go for Thai food, and there is a yummy place right near home we drove back to. Brian tolerated it, but the girls and I really enjoyed it. I told him next time he’s out of town I’ll bring the girls back without him, and he liked that idea.
Then we played more wii and the girls surprised us with a light show on the ceiling of the living room.
Tomorrow night Wendy tests for her orange belt in karate. She doesn’t seem nervous at all, even though she’s never even watched the testing. I’m nervous for her though because she doesn’t practice at full force, she is light and dainty, but she says she’ll go all out at the real test. I told her it is hard to suddenly do that without having practiced that way, but she ignores me when I say that.
This is the thai place I went to: http://www.siamgardenthai1.com/. I had PHAD SE-EW with chicken and extra ground peanuts on top.
Sounds like your Mother’s Day was wonderful! Gotta love MOMosas and shopping!
Which Thai restaurant did you go to? Just curious! I love Thai food.
